Kevin Kolb Traded to the Cardinals

As expected for the better part of this week, the Cardinals finally pulled the trigger and acquired QB Kevin Kolb. He did not come cheap though. The Cardinals had to give up a 2nd round pick and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the Eagles.

The Cardinals also gave their new quarterback a big contract extension. Kolb signed a 5 year, $63 million contract with $20 million of that guaranteed.

I’ve been waiting for this trade for a long time and I hope it works out for the Cardinals. Kevin Kolb is an unproven quarterback and giving up a starting cornerback and 2nd round pick is a lot for an unproven player. Kolb will finally have a chance to start all 16 games in a season and has the luxary of throwing to Larry Fitzgerald too. I can see him struggling at first, similar to the way Matt Cassel struggled in his first year with Kansas City, but later getting better as he adapts to the team.

The Eagles on the other hand are just getting better and better. They got a high draft pick, a solid corner, and still manage to have a franchise quarterback behind center.
