Why the Ravens Will Be Super Bowl Champions This Year

Yes, you read the title correctly. My prediction for the Super Bowl winner is the Baltimore Ravens. With a fairly easy schedule and a strong team, they are poised to be champions this year.

Let’s start with the division. The Bengals and Browns are already set to be non-factors to the Ravens this year. Their only real competition will be the defending AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the past few seasons, the Ravens have never been able to overcome the Steelers but that will change this year. The Steelers are known to have a bad season after making the Super Bowl. This happened in 2009, the year after the Steelers won the Super Bowl. They did very poorly and allowed the Bengals and Ravens to make the playoffs. While I don’t think they will do horrible, I do think they will miss the playoffs this year. Of course, this means that the Ravens will win their division.

According to NFL.com, the Ravens have the 31st most difficult, (or 2nd easiest) schedule in the league. Outside of the Steelers, their most notable opponents this season are the Jets, Colts, and Chargers. With Joe Flacco at the helm, Anquan Boldin, T.J. Houshmandzadeh as receivers, and a very strong defense, I can believe they can beat at least two of those three teams. The are matched up against the NFC West this season. With that division as wide open as it is, that is another three to four wins for the Ravens. Their last two games are against the Browns and then the Bengals. Their schedule will allow them to come in hot into the playoffs.

I’m predicting that the Ravens will come in as number 2 or 3 seed in the playoffs. They are most likely going to have to face the likes of the Chargers, Jets/Patriots, and Colts. All those teams do well in the playoffs but there is a reason none of them have won a Super Bowl in the last 4 or more years. These wins will not come easy but I think the Ravens will be a very confident team in the playoffs and come up with the wins.

Super Bowl
My Super Bowl prediction is Eagles vs. Ravens. This will be a fun Super Bowl. The Eagles defense is now a power house with Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The Ravens defense has been a power house for the last few seasons. Then comes the offense. Michael Vick has a great set of receivers around him but so does Joe Flacco. The Eagles will be the favorite to win it, but the Ravens will come up with an upset and come out as champions.

It’s bold, I know. But I do think the Ravens have what it takes this season to pull it off.
