Eagles Snag a Receiver from the Giants

As if the Eagles didn’t already have enough playmakers on their offense.

Today, the Eagles signed former Giants WR Steve Smith. The move was surprising because it was all but confirmed that he would return to the Giants.

Smith is a solid receiver and proved that he can be a real threat during his tenure with New York. Over four seasons, he accumulated over 2,000 yards in 220 receptions and 11 touchdowns.

The concern that comes with Smith, however, is that he is injured. He injured his left knee at the end of last season and had surgery on it shortly thereafter. It is understandable that the Giants were hesitant to re-sign Smith as their doctors said that he wouldn’t be able to play until midseason. The Eagles doctors are saying that he will be ready for the opener.

Come September 11th, we’ll see who’s right when the Eagles face the Rams.
